A Brief Introduction

So…. It’s been some time now and I’ve realized that I haven’t properly introduced myself.

Let’s begin!

Who am I?

My name is Jesse Jia and I’ve been fortunate enough to visit over 20 different countries. All thanks to the support I’ve received from family. I am what you call a first generation Canadian, meaning my parents both immigrated into Canada. As a result, I was born and raised in Canada, just outside of Toronto to be exact. Luckily, I grew up in a safe and welcoming area and have nothing negative to say about my hometown. It will always be my “home”.

Currently (at the time this was published) I am a full time engineering student at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. A month into my final semester of 2nd year and a week before my 20th birthday, I have never felt so old. The future has never felt so cloudy. A feeling of uncertainty on one hand but also an approval of freedom on the other.

I’ve always felt as if by the time a person reaches 20, they will already have their life planned out, the IMPORTANT parts at least. Things such as: A Dream job? Where they want live? Or even spend the rest of their lives! Or any sort of plan for that matter.

Currently, I have no idea. No clue where I want to end up.

But that’s what makes the story so interesting, I can make it up as I go. Which is exactly what my “plan” is!

So here you’ll find my story…

Why are you blogging?

Well…. That’s a great question!

I’ve always wanted to travel across the world and eventually I believe I will. But this blog serves more than stories for you guys, it is also a reminder of the promise I made to myself. I want to share my life with everybody. Right now, we live in a very social world with communicating being so easy. There’s no hiding from it, so why not embrace it?

I was never the type of person to post on Facebook, tweet on twitter and definitely not create a video on YouTube. Honestly, I was shocked when I even SIGNED UP for Instagram.

Though, since then I’ve realized that everybody has to adapt, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. So this is my current self; nervous and reluctant to share much of anything. As a matter a fact, I didn’t even share my first article post. WHY? Because I was scared.

So long story short, I’m blogging with the intention of becoming the carefree, confident person I want to be while living my dream.
